Milind with his Guru Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia
Initially Milind learnt from Pt. Ajit Soman for some time and then since 1989 he is under the tutelage of legendary Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Although Milind’s main study is in Indian Classical and Folk Music, he also has studied Devotional Music, Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Fusion-World Music. An accomplished and versatile composer, Milind has experimented with several music and dance forms in as showcased in his band Fusion Ensemble.
Milind has composed music for several films and documentaries. One of these documentaries was on HHH The Dalai Lama and other one on Dr. Shardchandra Dicksheet - the well-known Plastic Surgeon. Recently he composed music for Among The Believers - a highly sensational film. This film has won over a dozen awards all over the world. It was also nominated for the prestigious EMMY Awards.
Milind has released many award winning albums. He is also credited for creating more than 15 new Raags in Indian Classical Music.
Milind has extensively travelled South Korea and has performed more than 700 concerts over two decades collaborating with some of the top Korean musicians. He has several award winning albums released in South Korea as well.
With special invitation, Milind has performed for Russian President Hon. Mr. Putin and on another occasion for then Indian President Hon. Pranob Mukharjee.
Milind has been awarded several prestigious awards. Notable being Femina Pune's Most Powerful Award and Economic Times Next Gen Award. His works were nominated for GiMA and Emmy awards.
Besides of course Pt. Hariprasad ji, Milind considers influences of 4 legendary musicians on his music. Dr L. Subrahmanium, Pt. Jasraj, Ustad Vilayat Khan and Asha Bhosale. Milind also says that he learnt a lot from Ashok Hande, Pt. Hridaynaath Mangeshkar, Pt. Jagjit Singh [Ghazal Singer], and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
Milind has been blessed by the teachings of spiritual masters Osho and Sai Kaka.
